It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother and grandmother (aka Grammie) on August 17, 2024, age 88. Marianna died peacefully after a brief illness. Born in Bellefonte, PA on November 13, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Hays and Marion Mattern. She graduated from Indiana State Teachers College of Pennsylvania. Marianna thrived in her roles supporting early childhood education, as an elementary and pre-school teacher, and later working at Highlights for Children magazine. Her dedication to children left a lasting impact on many lives.
Marianna was a devoted mother to her two sons, Christopher and David, a close sister to Patricia Meixner, and a cherished grandmother to her two beloved granddaughters, Zoe and Thalia Costanza.
Marianna could and would make friends with anyone and everyone. She was an avid traveler, eager to explore new places, meet new people, and try new cuisines. She had a lifelong love of music, reading and swimming. She also had a dee
